Hundertwasserhaus

Completed in 1985, Hundertwasserhaus is the work of self-styled "eco-architect" Friedensreich Hundertwasser. He wanted to create a unique, eco-friendly living space where Viennese residents could live in harmony with nature. Uneven floors and curvy lines dominate this colorful apartment building, which also incorporates an eclectic mixture of natural and eccentric elements, such as a grassy roof, trees growing from inside the buildings, mosaic tiles, and glass. This unique complex resembles a huge black-and-white game board with splotches of red, yellow, and blue.
