Hahndorf Australia

INTRODUCTION Hahndorf, located in the Adelaide Hills, is a lovely little township located 28 km southeast of Adelaide in the Adelaide Hills. It has strong German origins, evident in the pubs dotted on the main street and the lovely butcher shop. There are many shops to browse while walking along the tree-lined street. It is a must see if you are in or around Adelaide.

ATTRACTIONS

Beerenberg Farm dates back to the 1830's. Today the farm is owned by descendants of the original German settlers and boasts traditional crops. The farm has an international reputation for their jams, home style pickles, chutney, and sauces. This is a great place to head for lunch and a day out. While there pick your own strawberries (in season) and enjoy the rose gardens.

The Hahndorf Academy, built in 1839, is South Australia's largest regional art gallery. Originally built to be a school, the Academy became an art gallery in the 1960s.

LODGING

The town is home to a wide variety of accommodation from hotel and motels, bed and breakfasts, resorts, and caravan parks.
