Guadalupe Mountains National Park, Texas Travel Guide

Guadalupe is West Texas' only legally designated wilderness, and as such provides a great opportunity to get away and experience the solitude of such a secluded piece of earth. The park is a hikers dreamscape, with rugged mountains and woody valleys that can be accessed through over 80 miles of lonely trails.

The area experiences hot summers, cold winters, and a mild spring and fall. Winters are generally short with a small amount of snow fall, while summers are hot with thunderstorms later in the season.

The night sky in Guadalupe is one of the most pristine in the country. With little to no light pollution, due to the recent efforts of the National Parks Service, the stars can be viewed from horizon to horizon on clear nights and remain spectacularly bright.
