Golden Gate Park San Francisco

Golden Gate Park is an urban park of over one thousand acres located in San Francisco. It is larger than Central Park in New York City and is the third most visited park in the United States.

Open year round, it offers a variety of attractions such as the Japanese Tea Garden, Rose Garden, De Young Museum, Academy of Sciences, AIDS Memorial Grove, and Stowe Lake, among others.

The Japanese Tea Garden is a five-acre garden built specifically for the 1894 World's Fair. It is the oldest public Japanese garden in the United States and features a teahouse within its walls. Pagodas, sculptures, bridges and statues are scattered throughout the Japanese and Chinese foliage.

The Rose Garden is full of brightly colored blossoms throughout the summer, which line the walkway of the main entrance.

The Academy of Sciences is one of the largest natural history museums in the world and also houses the Steinhart Aquarium and Morrison Planetarium.

The AIDS Memorial Grove is the only AIDS memorial located in the United States and has been in progress since 1988.

Stowe Lake surrounds Strawberry Hill, upon which most of the Western half of San Francisco can be viewed. Here, rowboats and pedalboats can be rented to enjoy lazy afternoons.
