Galveston, Texas is a town that you don't want to miss if you are going to Southeast Texas. There are 32 miles of sandy beaches, many named and with their own personality. Two of the beaches stand out for me, Stewart beach and Seawolf Park on Pelican Island?. Stewart beach is alcohol and car free, parking is designated off the beach. Be sure to bring your swim suit and inflatable rafts. Seawolf Park? is not a typical beach. Located on Pelican Island you cna tour the USS Cavalla?, a World War II submarine and the USS Stewart, a destroyer. A nice pavilion and fishing pier are highlights. Both beaches have a fee to enter. There are plenty of free beaches on either end of the island but none are maintained like Stewart Beach. The town itself has many historical and fascinating places and buildings to shop and tour.
