Fort Sumter Charleston

Fort Sumter is a great stop for any history junkies, as it is the sight where the first shot of the civil war was taken. A nice harbor cruise will take you to the fort, situated on a island in the opening of Charleston harbor. Once there, you can tour the barracks to see how soldiers lived in the civil war time and see the genuine cannons used in the nineteenth century. You also get some great views of the city from the water.
