El Yunque is a protected section of sub-tropical rain-forst in north eastern Puerto Rico. There are miles of hiking trails through the scenic forest. There is very little wild life and no poisonous snakes to worry about. El Yunque mountain is a popular hike that has a beautiful view once you reach the peak but be prepared for an hour and a half to two hour round trip. Another popular destination are the La Mina Falls, where visitors climb a cliff face to jump into the pool at the base of the falls.
