Eiffel Tower Paris

An iron tower built on the Champs de Mars by the River Seine, this is the tallest structure in Paris. It was built between 1887 and 1889 and was the tallest structure in the world until 1930 when the Chrysler building was erected. It was built as an entrance for the Exposition Universelle, a World's Fair to commemorate the French Revolution. It was originally supposed to be torn down after an allotted 20 years, but it proved useful for communication so it was allowed to stay.

The views from the Eiffel Tower are breathtaking. For those fearful of heights, the ascent will have you holding on to the railings for dear life. But it is definitely worth it. Although many enjoy the view from the very top (there are three levels), the first and second levels also offer travelers a picture perfect scene of Paris.

There are two restaurants in the tower. Altitude 95 on the first floor and the Jules Verne on the second.
