The arid region of the Dogon Country is situated in Eastern Mali near the border with Burkina Faso.
The Dogon people are one of the only native tribes in Africa to hold on to their culture and traditional ways of life despite colonialism and other invasions and changes. To this day the Dogon people have largely held onto their animist beliefs.
The Dogon are best known for their mask dances,wooden sculpture, mythology and the world famous Dogon Masks.
