Darwin AustraliaINTRODUCTION Darwin is the capital of the Northern Territory. It is known as the "Gateway to Asia," and the city's population is very multicultural. Seventy-five nationalities are represented in Darwin, and nearly a quarter of the population self-identifies as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. The city is especially proud of the Mindil Beach Sunset Markets, which are held twice a week during the dry season, and could probably be said to be the finest example of Darwin's multiculturalism. An interesting, if not warm, place to visit when in Australia, expecially if you are planning to explore 'the Territory'. KNOW BEFORE YOU GO The top end of Australia is HOT and HUMID in summer and moderate in winter. Be sure if travelling in summer months that you take hats and sunscreen and do not forget to drink plenty of water. ATTRACTIONS Darwin Crocodile Farm Come and visit the Crocodile farm, there are over 10,000 crocs on the farm so you are guarenteed to see them Berry Springs Nature Park – a short drive south of Darwin, come and see the magic of the great Australian bush Shoal Bay Coastal Reserve – east of Darwin this wonderful reserves offers an insight into the Aboriginal culture. Visit a shell midden site and you can also visit some of the sacred Aboriginal areas around the reserve. There is fantastic shopping here, marinas to visit and even a beachside casino.
