Corpus Christi Texas

Corpus Christi, Texas is beautiful. Although when you are driving toward it you might not think so because of all the refineries. But gliding over the Harbor Bridge on a sunny day, you’ll understand why they call it “the sparkling city by the sea.”

Corpus Christi is the home of the Texas State Aquarium?, which has everything from an aquatic petting zoo to an otter “show.” And, be sure to go over the Kennedy Causeway to Padre Island? for the day, just like the real beach bums do.

Another great attraction in Corpus Christi is the aircraft carrier USS Lexington?. The Blue Ghost, as she's called, features several planes and helicopters on the flight deck, a Mess Deck cafe, and up-close access to the bridge, hangars, and other areas.

Also, fans come from all over the country (and even the world) to pay their respects at the bayfront memorial for beloved Tejano singer Selena, who was killed just as she was reaching international fame.

Corpus Christi has many places to eat. If you’re hungry for steaks or seafood, try The Yardarm on Ocean Drive for high quality dining—-reservations recommended—-but for breakfast or lunch, do what the locals do and hit Eddie’s (a diner on Kostoryz Road) for a wide variety of Texas-sized “taquitos” (soft tacos). Although many tourist are only familiar with the bayfront and downtown, the main roadway is S.P.I.D., where you can find many chain restaurants, two malls, and a few nightclubs.

However, the best thing about Corpus Christi is its warm people, full of Tex-Mex hospitality, who are happy to help tourists with directions and information.
