Located in Miami-Dade County, Coral Gables is home to the University of Miami, which has one of the nation's most successful collegiate athletic programs.
It is also one of the best examples of the City Beautiful movement of the 1920s, and unlike the rest of Miami, where streets are numbered, here they hold old Spanish and Italian names. The Mediterranean influence is also seen in its architecture, through the old stone walls, gazebos, plazas, gardens and fountains scattered throughout Coral Gables.
