Cinque Terre Italy

Cinque Terre are 5 coastal villages with colorful homes and a jaw-dropping Mediterranean backdrop. The 5 villages are Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore. They are all connected by paths along the mountainsides that separate the villages, a train through the mountains, or a passenger ferry service. The most famous route taken is the Via Dell'Amore, or the Lovers Walk, which connects Riomaggiore to Manarola. With maily level ground, it is the easiest walk. The myth of the divided lovers is described at both ends.

While in Cinque Terre try some of the local wine and cuisine. The area is famous for its pesto sauce, seafood of any kind, and Focaccia bread. If you're especially adventurous, try some local grappa, a very strong brandy made from the pommace left after winemaking.
