Luna Mansion: Just 30 minutes south of Albuquerque visitors can stop at the Luna Mansion for a dinner of steak, seafood, cocktails and more. Keep in mind, if you do decide to make a stop, that the Luna Mansion has a long history that dates back to the 1600's. Two different men during that time period came to New Mexico from Spain with a land grant from the King. Eventually, these two families married two different couples and became the Luna-Otero Dynasty. In 1880 the Sante Fe railroad wanted to pass the railroad through the land that the Luna family owned. In return, the company offered to build a new home for the family in the location of its choice. From this situation, the Luna Mansion was built. Later, in 1920 renovations were made to make it even more spectacular. Today the Luna Mansion is an important piece of history in New Mexico. The restaurant that it serves as is a way to protect the existence of the building.
Albuquerque Aquarium: Along the Rio Grande River, hours of family fun are to be had at the Albuquerque Aquarium. The exhibits showcase the life living in the nearby river, as well as those that exist in the Gulf of Mexico, where the river empties into the ocean. Children will not want to miss the daily shark feedings and the touch pools that are randomly planned. The aquarium can even organize an on-site sleep over! While in Albuquerque with your family be sure to stop and view the many fun and educational underwater exhibits.
Unser Racing Museum: The Unser Family is a family that goes back four generations. Louis, an immigrant from Switzerland, began his hobby with cars and racing in the early 1900's. Today the Unser Racing Museum is host to many motor sport events, and, of course, a museum! The museum brings visitors back into the past to show them the history of the racing family, why they were so successful, and what makes a racecar so successful on the track. Unser Racing Museum will also help you have your very own private event at their location.
