Canon City ColoradoFifty miles to the west of Pueblo lies Canon City (there should be a tildy ~ on the "n" and pronounced like "canyon"). The major attraction at Canon City is the Royal Gorge and Bridge?. The bridge, alleged to be the highest suspension in the world, spans the width of the gorge at 1,053 feet above the Arkansas River?. The park at the bridge also features an Aerial Tram?, a skycoaster that swings 2-4 people at a time out over the edge of the gorge, a petting zoo, and an incline car. Park admission costs $21 per person (save $2 if you purchase online). Another way to see the gorge is by train. Board the Historic Royal Gorge Route Railroad? at the depot in Canon City for a 2-hour train ride through the gorge, then return via the same route. Seats on the train range from $29.95 for coach to $54.95 for dome class. Dinner trains are also available.
