Located on Mexico's Yucatan? peninsula, Cancun remains a vacation hotspot among Americans. It's lavish resorts and ocean access are big reasons for this. The area suffered major damage in 2005 due to Hurricane Wilma, but reconstruction has managed to revive this vibrant tourist destination. Other points of interest near Cancun include the ancient Mayan ruins of Chichen Itza and Isla Mujeres, both a short trip from the resort area of downtown Cancun.
The city offers entertainment for both young and mature tourists. While the nightlife is intesily active with many clubs downtown, a variety of resturants and beaches also pleases visitors during the night and day.
