HISTORY
KNOW BEFORE YOU GO
ATTRACTIONS
Campeche City, the capital of the state is sister city of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada and a World Heritage Site. It's historic downtown is an excellent example of 17th Century walled cities. Campeche built it's fortified walls because of continued attacks by European pirates. Today, in addition to the Historic downtown, you can visit two forts on either side of the city, which served as sentinels and now preside over gorgeous views and fantastic sunsets. Take a walk along the waterfront
Beaches
There are beautiful beaches in Campeche and most of them have little or no development on them. Many beach areas are protected for the preservation of carey turtles.
Playa Bonita
There are palapas where you can hang the hammock that you previously bought in town as well as concession stands where you can buy beverages. This is the beach where many of the locals swim on weekends in the spring and summer
Seybaplaya
This is an enchanting place almost untouched by humans. The waters are very calm and sand is powder like. There are shrimp, oysters and a wide variety of fish in the river. The town of Sabancuy is an old fishing village with a lot of potential for tourism.
