Cafe Katzung

A bustling, famous area of Innsbruck, Austria can offer an indulgent epicurean experience that warms the soul after a long alpine drive. Let the Golden Roof be your guide, as Cafe Katzung is just moments away from this main attraction. This surprisingly sophisticated eatery is located in the Katzung Building, which is about 500 years old. The cafe itself is one of Innsbruck's oldest cafes. The one dessert that you must try is a little slice of cocoa heaven called sachertorte. Sachertorte is a sweet wedge of cake neatly blanketed by a dark chocolate glaze. Layers of bittersweet chocolate cake with a range of textures, from buttery to crumbly, are magnified by the slightest hint of apricot. This Viennese treat is a true slice of heritage dating back to 1832.
