Bucovina And Moldova Romania

The long and interesting history is readily apparent when visitng Moldova. The capital of Moldova, Iasi, is a cultural and traditional hot-spot. It is here that, in the past, the city was built around almost 100 churches that still stand today.

Bucovina, located in northern Moldova, is an area probably best know for the UNESCO World heritage site dating back to the 15th and 16th centuries, the Painted Monasteries of Bucovina. Religious themes painted on the walls of the buildings relay the importance of religion in the lives of the Romanians.

Besides the many other religious sites to visit, travelers cannot escape the beauty of this region. Hiking and birdwatching can be done on the natural terrain, as well as in Ceahlau National Park.
