Brooklyn New York

Brooklyn was once an independent city but joined with New York in the late 1800s. If you're staying in Manhattan, just take a ride over the world famous Brooklyn Bridge to visit the borough. You can go to hear the widely known Brooklyn accent in action, to see spots written of in literature or filmed in movies, and to visit many other attractions the borough offers.

You may want to stop in Prospect Park, which was built right after Central Park had been complete in Manhattan. The park has the largest meadow in any US park, its own small zoo, the Litchfield Villa (a historic home), and the only lake in Brooklyn. Or perhaps museums are more your thing, in which case a visit to the Brooklyn Museum would be a must. It houses art ranging from Ancient Egyptian times to present Contemporary works. You can go to the beach and see Coney Island, or visit the Brooklyn Botanic Garden if vegetation is your thing.

There is plenty to do in Brooklyn, and the official visit Brooklyn site can give you even more ideas. http://www.visitbrooklyn.org/
