INTRODUCTION
Belmopan or "Garden City" is the smallest capital in the world. This tiny city has a population of 7,100. Like any other small city, walking is the most used transportation, but if taking a cab sounds better, going anywhere in a taxi costs $3.00.
HISTORY
Belize City was originally Belize's capital. After a 1961 hurricane (Hurricane Hatty), this city was left devastated, therefore Belmopan took its place as capital city.

"Market square" is the place where most of the local commerce occurr. Tropical fruits, vegetables, spices, local food, and copycat designer jewelry are sold here.
Visit the "Guancaste Park" which is great for nature lovers. Orchids and other beautiful plants as well as animals are everywhere to be seen. Take a swim at "Roaring Creek".
