Atlanta Thrashers HockeyAtlanta is home to the National Hockey League's Atlanta Thrashers. The excitment of hockey is finally becoming more and more popular in the South. This is evidenced by the growing Thrasher following. The Trashers came to Atlanta in 1997 and have paid their dues to develop their following. There's nothing quite like watching the guys gluide around the ice, and charge each other in the occassional face-down. Warning: the crowds are always rowdy and like to have a good time. The Thrashers play at Phillip's Arena, in downtown Atlanta. The hockey season last from October to June. Tickets can be purchased from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm at the Phillip's Arena box office. Tickets start as low as $10. Discount tickets are available for groups of 20 or more. If you plan on being in Atlanta long enough, enjoy the thrill of going to the Thrasher's practice facility, The IceForum, in Duluth, Georgia. It is approximately 25 miles north of Atlanta. This is the best place to watch the players up close and personal. You will also have a great chance to get autographs at the practice facility.
