Once you enter the Fox Theater, in Atlanta, Georgia, you will feel you have stepped back in time. The Fox is a historic and luxurious theater. It has the look and feel of rich velvets and gold tone accents.
The Fox hosts plays, ballets, concerts, and even a summer movie series. It is a great place to go on a romantic date. Depending on what is playing the kids will love it too. When the lights go down, the ceiling is dotted with lights, that look like stars. You get the sense that you are sitting in an outdoor theater.
There are floor seats, orchestra seats, and balcony seats. All a priced accordingly, depending on the talent in town. I have had the pleasure of sitting at all levels in the Fox Theater, and have yet to find a bad seat in the house.
The Coca-cola summer film festival shows new movies and classics. A long-lived and loved tradition is the organ music and sing along prior to the show. You can usually catch a screening of Gone with the Wind, at least once a year. You can then travel just a short way down peachtree and visit the Margaret Mitchell house.
There is always something going on at the Fox Theater, so be sure to check the schedule when you are in town. Parking is generally available within a block or two, but plan on arriving early to ensure you have time to find a parking place and trot over to the Fox.
