INTRODUCTION
Ansonia is home to the Ansonia Historic District, located on Elm Street. The town/city is located in New Haven County, Conneticut. Homes in this district were built between the 1700s and the 1970s. Other historical buildings include the Ansonia Nature Center, the Mansfield House and the Ansonia Opera House.
HISTORY
The city was first settled in 1652 and was named after merchant and philanthropist Anson Greene Phelps.

Ansonia is best known for being devoted to its high school football team: the Ansonia Chargers whose rivals are the Naugatuck Greyhounds. Every game becomes an event for towners.
