HISTORY
Algerian protests sparked by popular disapproval of economic, social and political conditions began in December 2010. Protests and clashes between the police and protesters have continued through March, 2011.
The US State Department has warned US citizens against traveling to Algeria due to the risk of terrorist attacks including bombings, ambushes and kidnappings. Visitors to Algeria should take personal security measures to prepare for emergencies and riots.
